Weekend Recap

The time has come, where I actually feel like writing more than two sentences.

Friday night was relaxed and low key, just the way I like them. It was a beautiful, cool evening so Brian and I wandered around 23rd before heading up the street to Sal’s, a restaurant we had been meaning to try for awhile. Sal’s is a cute and cozy Italian restaurant tucked away in the Uptown Shopping Center (excuse my need to use the name of the shopping center, that is just the real estate nerd in me coming out). We feasted on zucchini cakes, garlic bread, pasta and of course red wine. Brian and I have been working on eating at home more to save money so it was a nice treat for us to spend our Friday out.

On Saturday Brian and I tried to go to the apple tasting festival at the Portland Nursery but it was way too crowded. Instead, we spent the morning driving around looking for houses and seeing what neighborhoods we want to be in. After a quick stop at Safeway for some snacks, we headed down to the William’s house (as usual) to watch the Ducks. It wasn’t much of a game as the Ducks trampled Colorado but it was enjoyable none-the-less. Heather met us at the William’s house after her race in Corvallis to watch the game and so we could pick up Julie at the airport that night.

Julie got into Portland around 8:00 that night so we picked her up and grabbed a bite to eat at Tin Shed before driving over to Cannon Beach for the night. The great thing about us is that even though we live in three different cities now and we’re no longer roommates, it feels like nothing has changed. We were able to spend a lot of time catching up over dinner and in the car before getting to her family’s house. We had a sleepover in Julie’s room that night where Julie got a lot more sleep than Heather and I. For Julie’s sake, I’ll let you figure out that one.

On Sunday morning we had coffee and breakfast with the Nelson family then headed off to church. The afternoon was spent hanging out with her family, catching up on Julie’s adventures, exploring Cannon Beach, having a photoshoot on the beach and just being us. It was a relaxing and fun-filled day and I wish we were able to do it more often. The three of us weren’t even together for 24 hours, but it was by far one of my favorite weekends this year.

After Heather and I left the Nelson house we stopped in at the Pendelton outlet, which was the best idea ever. It was pretty much Pendelton heaven because the store was filled was flannel and blankets. We each bought a backpack, purse, scarf, beanie and headband. They also might have been matching…We’re special.
